Accessibility statement.

Session Care Ltd · registered in England and Wales, company number 14261673
Version 1.0 · issued 18 August 2026 · effective 18 August 2026

Mara asks people to speak on camera under pressure. That makes accessibility a design question, not a compliance one. This statement says what we are aiming at, where we currently fall short, and how to get something fixed.

01Our commitment

Mara is operated by Session Care Ltd. We are working towards WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

We are not going to claim conformance we have not tested for. No independent accessibility audit has been carried out to date. This statement is based on our own review of the platform and reflects what we know as at 18 August 2026. It will be replaced with a tested statement once an audit has been done.

Our obligations arise under the Equality Act 2010, which requires us to make reasonable adjustments so that a disabled person is not put at a substantial disadvantage. The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not apply to us, but we treat WCAG as the right standard regardless.

02What already works

03Where we currently fall short

Named plainly, because a statement that lists only strengths is no use to somebody deciding whether they can use this.

BarrierEffect and current position
Camera-based practice roomsThe Practise and Coaching rooms measure posture, gaze and stillness from a camera. If you cannot use a camera, or your posture or gaze differ from the patterns the measurement expects, those particular scores will not be meaningful for you. The coaching conversation, the written feedback and the language and clarity work do not depend on the camera and remain fully available. Tell us and we will disable delivery-signal scoring on your account.
Speech-driven practiceSome rooms are built around speaking aloud. If speech is not available to you, text-based coaching, Off the Record and Message Studio cover the same method without it.
Colour contrastSome gold-on-dark and muted secondary text in the platform falls below the 4.5:1 ratio required at Level AA. This is being worked through.
Screen reader support in interactive roomsThe live session rooms use dynamic regions that are not yet fully announced. Screen reader users may find the static areas substantially better than the live ones.
Focus visibilityFocus indicators are inconsistent in places on custom controls.
Video contentSome marketing and tour videos do not yet have captions or a transcript.
MotionBreathing and regulation visuals animate. They can be paused, but the platform does not yet honour the operating system's reduce-motion setting everywhere.

04Assistive technology

Mara is intended to work with recent versions of the current major browsers and with the screen readers and magnification tools built into current operating systems. We test manually rather than formally, and we would rather hear that something does not work than assume it does.

05Reasonable adjustments

If part of Mara is not usable for you, we will adjust it. In practice that has meant turning off delivery-signal scoring, providing written alternatives to spoken exercises, extending timings, and supplying content in a different format.

Ask at hello@thesessionlab.com with "Accessibility" in the subject line. You do not have to explain or evidence a diagnosis to us to get an adjustment.

Organisation customers: adjustments requested by one of your people come to us and are made by us. We do not tell you who asked.

06Reporting a problem

Email hello@thesessionlab.com. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what happened. We aim to acknowledge within 5 working days and to give you a fix or a workaround, with a date, within 20 working days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service at equalityadvisoryservice.com.
